Dublin DIY Fashion Scene

December 10, 2009

A while ago I was writing about Beads and Bling, one of the largest suppliers of beads, millinery and haberdashery as my usual spot for browsing materials for my designs or learning design techniques.  But as my love for millinery and accessories grows, I am constantly searching for alternatives to compliment and balance my possibilities and skills when creating new designs.

So I was delighted to learn that a large choice of accessory workshops is available now at Yellow Brick Road as well.  They offer a huge range of 6 weeks courses and one-off evening workshops to fit your taste and schedule.  Classes start at €30 euros and most of them include materials which is great as the costs of little beads adds up very quickly!

At Yellow Brick Road they teach you ancient techniques to create vintage style jewellery, wirework to make funky rings, how to design a sophisticated necklace using gemstones, and many more.

Ah, and to my delight I’ve learned that the winner of Hatty Awards, Lina Stein, is coming to Dublin on the 6th of March to hold a two days millinery workshop at Yellow Brick Road teaching how to make hats using crinoline and how to finish them with lace and silk!

Lina is based in Westport where she holds regular workshops, so it is a great opportunity for Dubliners!

Yes, Dublin is getting better with courses and workshops! I am sure there is something similar in Cork as well :)
